THE STAYERS "About Time"
Rob produced and played drums on this new blues cd. To be released early Feb 2014 consists of songs written by Steve Innis.
The Stayers are a Sydney based Blues band who play a mixture of blues standards and original songs. They played as an electric band in the blues venues in the inner west of Sydney in the 1990’s and have recently reformed as an acoustic outfit.
Lineup:
ANDREW YABSLEY - double bass.
BILL GUNTHER - acoustic lead guitar;
STEVE INNIS - vocals, harmonica, acoustic rhythm guitar;
Their sound is characterised by the warmth of Steve’s vocals, the crispness of Bill’s guitar and the rhythmic strength of Andrew’s double bass. The Stayers play up tempo Rhythm and Blues, the kind of music that’ll get the joint jumpin’! Their acoustic line-up means they are suited to any venue from an intimate club or party to the concert or festival stage.
The Stayers were the Sydney Blues Society’s Blues Performers of the Year in 2006.
In 2007 they travelled to Memphis Tennessee where they were Semifinalists in the International Blues Challenge. As well as playing in clubs on the legendary Beale St – the home of the blues – they performed on Memphis television.
Special guests on the album include Clayton Doley (Hammond) and Rob Grosser (drums).
